Who's coaching

The 14th round is where they said he'd stay.

“I wasn't a 50-goal scorer or a top prospect. I was a 14th-round OHL draft pick and a 6th-round NHL draft pick. I wasn't the kid everyone was talking about.”Zac Rinaldo

Zac made the NHL anyway. Not on talent nobody else had, but on the things every scout undervalues and every coach ends up needing. In his own words: “My path to the NHL was built on consistency, resilience, and a willingness to do the hard things that help teams win.”

He now coaches young athletes in the Hamilton area, on the ice and off it. Round 14 is that coaching brought online, and it's named for the draft round where everyone stopped expecting anything from him.

The method

The 5 Controllables

Five things that separate the kids who keep advancing. Not one of them needs talent, and every one of them is inside your kid's control.

How it works

Four weeks. Ten kids. Real work.

One live call a week

A group video call with Zac and the rest of the group, every week for four weeks. Small on purpose: ten kids, so Zac knows every one of them by name.

One rep a week

Each week your kid gets one off-ice assignment they do and log themselves. Watching a period like a coach. Asking for real feedback. Doing something for a teammate nobody will credit them for. The work nobody sees.

A personal check-in with Zac

At the midpoint, every kid gets one-on-one time with Zac. Person before the player. You're told the time in advance and you're welcome to sit in.

A mark that gets earned

Kids who do the reps across all four weeks earn the Round 14 mark. It's not given to the most talented kid in the group. It's earned by the work, which means any kid who puts it in can get there.

Parents are welcome on any call, including the one-on-one. You'll also get a short, specific note from Zac about your kid near the end of the program. Not a template. What he actually saw.

Straight answers

What this is, and what it isn't

Is this skills training?

No. There are good skills coaches everywhere. This is the other part: habits, coachability, mindset, and compete level. The part that shows up on no scoresheet and decides more than most parents are ever told.

Will this get my kid a roster spot?

No program can promise that, and we won't. What your kid gets is five things they control, four weeks of actually doing them, and a former NHL player paying real attention to who they're becoming. What they do with that is theirs.

Is this therapy or counselling?

No. It's coaching: character and mental performance, run by a coach. If anything ever makes us genuinely concerned about your kid's wellbeing, we contact you promptly. That's in writing in the consent form.

The founding run

First run. Founding price.

$97 CAD per player

This is the first public run of Round 14, and the price says so. The ten founding families get the full program at a fraction of what future runs will cost. In return, we ask for your honest feedback each week, because it shapes what this becomes. That's the trade, stated plainly.

The start date is being locked now. Request a spot and we'll confirm the date with you directly before you pay anything.

The boring but important part: Zac holds a current vulnerable sector check before any session runs, every family signs a plain-English consent form first, and nothing your kid says or writes in the program is ever used publicly without your separate written permission. The full details are in our Program Terms and Privacy Notice.

Ten spots. Kids age 13 to 16.

Send us your kid's age and what's going on with their hockey right now. You'll get a straight answer about whether this is a fit, not a sales pitch.
